A pilot could lead to a landlord registration bylaw so the City can do proactive inspections, increase it's staffing and protect tenants' right to a healthy home!
Ottawa ACORN has endorsed the Coalition of Community Health and Resource Centre and Making Voices Count's campaign calling on the City of Ottawa to invest in social infrastructure.
1 in 5 BC renters spends over half their income on rent. While there is rent control that limits rent increases to 2.5% plus inflation per year, it is tied to the tenant. This means that if the tenant moves out, the landlord is free to raise the rent as high as possible.
