Eight provinces and one territory have already signed a deal with the Federal Government to provide $10/day child care. But it’s sadly no surprise that Doug Ford hasn’t signed one for Ontario yet! The Federal Government announced the affordable child care program in the budget in 2021 but for it to work, Doug Ford must step up and sign the agreement!

Provinces that have signed the deal will see:
- 50% reduction in child care fees for children under the age of six in regulated child care
- More licensed child care spaces
- Decent wages for ECEs and much more!

Ontario has some of the highest child care fees in Canada but Doug Ford has been sitting on the decision for months. By playing this delay tactic, Doug Ford is denying the right to affordable child care to tens of thousands of families who have already waited far too long.

The pandemic clearly demonstrated the disproportionate impact of childcare affordability on low-wage workers and women.
