Ontario ACORN Death of Affordable Housing Action – Join the day of mourning

Mock funerals are being organized at buildings impacted by AGls, renovictions and demovictions in Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton, London, Kitchener-Waterloo and Peel Region. 

Join us in the day of mourning for the significant loss of affordable housing across the province. 

ACORN is demanding the Ontario government to enact FULL Rent Control which means:
- All buildings - not just those built before November 2018
- Vacancy Control so rent increases are capped after a tenant moves out
- A ban on AGI (above guideline rent increases)

Locations:

Hamilton: Mock Funeral procession from 2520 Barton St E to 50 Jerome Crescent and back. Meet at Barton St side of 2520 Barton St E along grass at 12pm

Toronto: Meet outside the 437 Jarvis St at 1:00PM. Near Jarvis/Carlton.

Brampton: Front side of 507 Balmoral Dr.

Ottawa: Accora Village (meeting on the corner of Bayshore Dr & Woodridge Cr) at 12PM 

London: Meet at 11 am at Meredith Park and doing a funeral procession/walking tour to some nearby buildings where renovictions have happened.

Kitchener-Waterloo: Marching from 425 Lancaster Street to 250 Frederick St starting at 1PM.
