Emergency Ontario Meeting on Ford’s Move to End Rent Control
Last week, Doug Ford announced that his government is exploring fixed term leases - a move that would effectively end rent control.
This is his most dangerous attack on tenants yet — and it puts every renter in Ontario at risk.
Fixed term leases mean that when your lease ends, instead of automatically going month-to-month, your landlord could choose not to renew your lease at all — or renew it only if you agree to pay a higher rent, with no limit on how much they can raise it.

At the meeting we will:
- Review Ford's plans to end rent control as well as other changes that will speed up evictions and weaken tenant rights at the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB).
- We'll also hear from ACORN leaders in Atlantic Canada who will speak to the impact Doug Ford's proposals have had in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
- Go over how we can fight this together and WIN!
