Aspen Towers ACORN Tenants Union Demand Letter Delivery!
Posted August 26, 2024
The Aspen Towers ACORN Tenant Union is turning up the pressure on their new landlord! They recently marched to mail their demand letter by registered mail to their new landlord in Toronto, chanting “No Fear, No doubt, we won’t move out” on the way. The tenants wanted to make sure their landlord knows they’re standing their ground and won’t move; in the face of unjust eviction.
After sending the letter, the tenants turned the pressure up by flooding their landlord’s email and phone line to make sure he got the message loud and clear. Making it clear that they won’t back down! Shout out to Nelda Giroux, who got through, after they finally answered, and demanded the landlord meet with tenants. After which the landlord’s phone number was back to not answering.SHAME!
And that’s not all – the tenants also reached out to city councillors who hadn’t said if they support Ottawa ACORN’s campaign for a renoviction bylaw. ACORN members flooded city councillors phones to ask them to support a Renoviction bylaw and meet with ACORN.
This fantastic action was led by ACORN members Brian Doyle and Ricky Albano, who did a great job bringing everyone together to deliver the demand letter. Keep an eye out for more news as the Aspen Towers ACORN Tenant Union keeps fighting for what’s right!
