ACORN Ottawa Tenants Vote Meeting and Candidate Meet n’ Greet

Ottawa renters came out to ACORN’s Tenant’s Vote Citywide Meeting to learn and discuss the upcoming elections. We discussed our municipal campaigns, how candidates responded to our candidate survey, how to find your ward’s candidates and voting location. Afterwards we had a casual meet and greet with the candidates that were able to attend. Members had a great time chatting with potential candidates discussing issues that they were experiencing, ACORN’s municipal campaigns, and issues they would like candidates to get behind to create positive change in the city of Ottawa.

The survey included candidates’ support on:

• Safe Apartments Bylaw
• Stronger renoviction bylaw
• Demoviction bylaw / rental replacement bylaw
• Beat the Heat
• Renters for Retrofits
• Advocate to the Provincial Government
• Affordable Housing and Fighting Homelessness
• Bubble Bylaw

Thank you for all that came out to attend and thank you to all the candidates that were able to come out and speak with members. Thank you to Sara Laviolette and Gabby Frechette for leading the meeting. It was a great and beautiful day to fight for change!
