Locked Doors Can’t Stop the Capital Towers Tenant Power
Posted March 26, 2026
Today, ACORN members came together to demand safe, healthy housing at the Capital Towers apartment buildings. After documenting 51 work orders for bedbugs, cockroaches, and urgent repairs, we delivered our demands to Q Residential:
- Building-wide pest treatment
- Follow-up until pests are gone
- Clear communication with tenants
Management locked the doors, turned off the lights, and refused to accept our letter. Instead, a security guard we’ve never seen before followed us around and tried to kick us out—even though tenants who live in the building were part of the group. We handed him a copy, and he said he would pass it to management.
“We’re not asking for favours—we know our rights. Housing is a right, not a privilege.” – Olivier Rukundo, ACORN leader and tenant of Capital Towers.
ACORN will NOT be backing down. We deserve to live and be treated like humans. Stay tuned.
