Dozens of members of Ottawa ACORN flyered and rallied at the provincial government’s second round of endless consultations on basic income and poverty yesterday.
Kat Fortin and Micheala Fitzpatrick, both ACORN members on ODSP, read out the coalition resolution calling for an emergency increase to OW and ODSP by $500. While there may be merits to basic income, members across Ontario and in the coalition want an increase to current benefits, to help lift low income families out of poverty.
