Toronto City Wide Forum Calls for Landlord Licensing, a Max Heat Bylaw!

Posted September 6, 2023

On Thursday August 31st 100+ ACORN members came together to launch Toronto’s Beat the Heat campaign and fight for Landlord Licensing. We had an enthusiastic crowd from Etobicoke, Downtown, Scarbrough, York West, East York, and Weston chapters.

ACORN members Alejandra Ruiz Vargas, Rama Fayaz, Marva Burnett, Cristinao DaSilva, and Janak Ramcharran gave a presentation about our Toronto Beat the Heat Report, our fight for a maximum heat bylaw, our 2023 State of Repair Report, and demands for Landlord Licensing.

Councillor Josh Matlow and Councillor Paula Fletcher came to speak, as well as a staff from Mayor Olivia Chow’s office. Speakers from Climate Justice Toronto and Advocacy Centre for Tenants Ontario spoke on the campaign to beat the heat.

Toronto ACORN is going to keep up the pressure and make more wins in Toronto!
