Toronto ACORN members delivered a giant ? RENTSAFE REPORT CARD ? yesterday to City Hall
Over 50% of Toronto’s population are tenants, and many live in high rise apartment buildings. For eighteen years ACORN has been calling for a licensing system for Toronto’s aging apartment buildings as a way to ensure landlords are keeping their properties up to the municipal property standards. In 2017 ACORN won the RentSafe landlord registration program, to great acclaim. Four years later, tenants are still waiting for Healthy Homes.????
Members shared our demands for Healthy homes, their experiences in apartment buildings and how the City needs to hold these landlords accountable!
We were joined by Councillor Mike Layton and Paula Fletcher in support of the tenants!
