Rainy Rally for Rent Control!

Posted August 29, 2024

ACORN rallied in the pouring rain outside UCP MLA and Minister of Justice, Mickey Amery’s constituency office, to make our voices heard and demand rent control in Alberta. The so-called Minister of Justice chose to lock his doors and call the police on his own constituents rather than face the people he’s meant to serve. But our resolve was stronger—thankfully, the police escorted us upstairs, where we delivered our demand letter directly to his office.
We refuse to accept outrageous rent increases of 30%, 50%, or even 100% as the new norm. This is not OK. We’re here to send a clear message: we won’t let our politicians rest until they start working for ALL of us. The fight for fair and just housing continues.
