Ottawa West ACORN Takes Action at 31 Van Lang
Posted October 9, 2026
Ottawa West ACORN held a work order blitz at 31 Van Lang Pvt, an Ottawa Community Housing building in the Westboro Beaches. ACORN planned the action at our last meeting after a member raised concerns about foul-tasting water, pest issues, and security problems with a garage door that is frequently left open at all hours of the day and night.
More than 15 residents shared outstanding issues tied to security repair, and water issues during the event. Together, tenants documented problems in their units and common areas and put their concerns in writing. Next step will be collecting more work orders and delivering the stack directly to OCH.
After completing the building, members gathered at the Paul Dewar Field House to debrief, talk about what ACORN does, and connect with neighbours. Several people also shared issues in their own buildings and expressed interest in getting involved with ACORN.
This is what happens when tenants know their rights, speak up, and stand together.
