New Brunswick ACORN speaks out to demand Rent Control

Posted May 31, 2023

Members of New Brunswick ACORN were out making noise and spreading the good word of rent control in Moncton and Fredericton on the morning of May 30, 2023. The tenants of New Brunswick have been long fed up with Premier Higgs and Housing Minister Green’s flip flopping on bringing back the rent cap to the province as rent costs continued to rise and took to the streets!

In Fredericton, members were outside the Kings Place Mall talking with tenants on how they can fight back against their own rent increases and were collecting signatures on a petition to the housing crisis in New Brunswick. Even landlords were coming out to show their support!

In Moncton, members and allies held a rally outside the Constituency Office of Daniel Allain demanding rent control. In an attempt to keep ACORN members from peacefully protesting, the police were called to stop it, but since the members were only exercising their rights as constituents, they were allowed to continue.
