Tenants at 160-200 Chalkfarm have been dealing with massive issues in the building for years. The buildings all have terrible infestations of rats, roaches, and bedbugs. Tenants in these buildings get charged lots of money for repairs and thousands of dollars when they try and leave the building. The elevators are dangerous, with many tenants reporting getting stuck in them. There are dumpsters filled with garbage all over the property. Tenants at these buildings are sick of mistreatment from Greenwin, and many were eager to get involved with ACORN.
New members Moji Adesanya, Stella Soloman, Michelle John, and Onome Ojarikreh all came out to share their horror stories of the buildings. CBC and CityNews came out to interview tenants, and got a tour of the unit from Onome. All together 20 tenants and ACORN members came out, as well as MPP Tom Rakocevic and Chief of Staff for Councillor Perruzza, Matias.
Members are already asking when we’re doing it again and want to keep the momentum going.
