Calgary North-West Chapter Relaunch!

On Tuesday, Calgary ACORN members in the North-West gathered to relaunch the North-West Chapter. New and long-time members came together for an energetic meeting to elect the chapter’s leadership. Members unanimously elected William Gillies as Chair, Billy Tedford Jr. as Co-Chair, and Veronica Wilby and Linda Johnson as Co-Secretaries.
The relaunch follows months of conversations, planning, and neighbourhood meetings focused on identifying priority issues and growing the group. NW ACORN reaffirmed a key priority: the widespread problem of landlords neglecting their basic management responsibilities and leaving buildings in severe disrepair, filth, and infestation. This continues to drive the chapter’s work on Calgary ACORN’s ongoing Landlord Licensing campaign.
NW ACORN also announced the chapter’s upcoming action: a rally on Wednesday, November 26th at 12:00 PM at Queen’s Park Townhomes (501 40th Ave NW), a Mainstreet-owned complex notorious for chronic neglect. The chapter will invite Ward 4 Councillor Daniel James Kelly (DJ Kelly) to stand with tenants demanding real accountability.
