Big Day for McWatters Tenants in Ottawa!

Today’s protest against Homestead’s outrageous 11% rent hikes—to over 300 tenants living in 1300 & 1310 McWatters Rd—was a success! The McWatters ACORN Tenant Union came together to demand Homestead drop the rent increase, and immediately address the repairs, maintenance, and pest control requests.
Despite Homestead’s massive profits, tenants are being forced to live with cockroach and ant infestations, delayed repairs, and the loss of key amenities—all while their rent skyrockets through a rent control loophole (AGI). Enough is enough!
Members rallied outside 1310 McWatters, then marched to Homestead’s office, united in one message: Stop the rent gouging. Respect the people who live here.
