ACORN Pickets to Demand Ford Government Doubles ODSP Rates

Posted March 12, 2025

Today, Ottawa ACORN picketed outside the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) office on Preston St to demand that the government at least double ODSP rates and make real changes that will allow people to live with dignity.

Last year, ACORN was able to force the Ford government to tie ODSP to inflation and ODSP has gone up for the FIRST TIME since the 90s! But the fight isn’t over. Rent, groceries, transit—everything is going up, but ODSP isn’t keeping up. The maximum you can get on disability is $1300 a month which is UNACCEPTABLE!

ACORN picketed outside the ODSP office to demand the following immediate action from the provincial government:

  • Double the ODSP rates
  • Increase the housing allowance to match market rent in the city
  • Stop clawbacks on spousal income and benefits

This rally marks just one of many steps in the ongoing fight to ensure disabled individuals are treated with the respect and support they deserve.
