Energy Rebates for NB— Let’s Make it Happen!
Posted August 29, 2025
New Brunswickers have HAD ENOUGH of not getting the support they need, while Corporations are making record profits with multi-million dollar subsidies!
NB ACORN members gathered in front of Assumption Place in downtown Moncton to tell the world (and the Energy Ministry) that low-income people are the ones who need energy rebates- not big businesses!
Fredericton Members came together with a letter to pass along to Rene Legacy, the Energy Minister, to make sure he knows that WE are in need of support, NOT IRVING!
Leaders spoke of the need for affordable energy, rebate programs, energy retrofits in apartments that do not lead to tenant harm and displacement as well as how green energy will help our most vulnerable community members face the climate crisis.
With Irving owned businesses receiving subsidies to help them deal with increasing power costs, we have to ask, why do for-profit organizations deserve help where the common people don’t?
New Brunswickers are standing up and banding together to say: Don’t delay! We need energy rebates— today!
