ACORN Canada 10th Anniversary Reception
Posted March 26, 2014
It’s been an Exciting 10 Years! Celebrate 10 Years of Victories & Leadership Development
Help Support: Digital Access to Opportunities — Remittance Justice — Landlord Licensing
This is your chance to come out and celebrate 10 years of ACORN Canada’s organizing for justice, meet ACORN leaders, and learn about ACORN’s victories.
We have had many important accomplishments in the couple years both locally and nationally:
- Our Toronto tenant campaign was able to successfully lobby the Licencing and Standards Department to enforce standards in Sub-standard Housing equaling over 100 million dollars invested in private housing by landlords; plus improvements to the tenant enforcement system:
- First Living Wage Victory in Canada in New Westminster, BC.
- Fighting in Coalition to Raise the Minimum Wage indexed to inflation (2010 and Now)
- Payday Lending Legislation
We need your support to continue our organizing and leadership development efforts in low and moderate income communities.
Now’s the Time to Act!
We rely on community funding and funding from important like-minded organizations like yours to make our work possible so we can remain truly grassroots.
