265 & 269 Peres-Blancs Ave Tenant Speakout!
Posted August 13, 2024
ACORN members and tenants at 265 & 269 Peres-Blancs Ave held a tenant speakout to demand their new landlord, Jason Anbara, stop the renovictions and remain in their homes and community. The speakout saw the community come together in support of the tenants in their fight to remain in their units they’ve called home for decades. One family has three generations living there!
Their new landlord claims major repairs are needed but isn’t offering a way for tenants to return to their unit. Tenants shared their stories on why they aren’t leaving and are fighting back to stay in their homes. Most of which can’t afford the current market rate as they are on fixed incomes and all comparable units are simply unaffordable.
ACORN members and tenants of 265 & 269 Peres-Blancs Ave are ready to fight to ensure they will not be forced out of their homes. A big thank you to all those that came out in support and to ACORN member Debbie Staples for doing an amazing job leading the action. The fight is only the beginning!
