Ottawa ACORN undertook a new project this year called The Disability Benefit Clinics (DBC), ensuring over 800 disabled people did not have to pay a corporate preparer to claim benefits they are entitled to.
Often low income disabled people do not file because of costs of preparation, misconceptions they will not receive any benefits since they are on government medical benefits, or fear of being subject to clawbacks. Our clinics provided the opportunity for the disabled to claim additional resources to help them live healthier lives, such a buying additional medical supplies, clothing, supports and more.
We would like to thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their generous support to this project, our donors, and our volunteers who helped make this happen.
