Calgary ACORN Demands Answers from UCP on ADAP
Posted January 22, 2026
ACORN rallied outside Deputy Premier Mike Ellis’ office to say NO to ADAP— the new disability program that will cut disability benefits and introduce “American style” work requirements for people with disabilities in order to make ends meet.
Mike Ellis was nowhere to be found at HIS place of work. At a moment when people with disabilities are facing benefit cuts, large rent increases, and increased bureaucratic barriers, the Deputy Premier was unwilling — or unable — to face the consequences of his government’s decisions.
ACORN Was interviewed by CityNews and delivered our demand letter calling on the government to stop the implementation of ADAP and strengthen AISH! We deserve answers, dignity, and real support — not cuts and silence.
