Calgary ACORN Demands Minister of Municipal Affairs Answer for Out of Control Rents

Calgary ACORN members took action today, delivering a demand letter directly to the office of the UCP Minister of Municipal Affairs, calling for an immediate rent cap to address the housing affordability crisis. Members shared powerful personal stories of staggering rent increases, underscoring the urgent need for tenant protections. The minister briefly emerged to speak with us; however, instead of offering real solutions, he dismissed our concerns and reiterated the false claim that rent control would lead to even higher rents over time. Despite the dismissive response, ACORN remains undeterred in our fight for fair housing and meaningful rent control to protect tenants.
