ACORN National Convention 2024

From June 15-17, 2024, over 250 ACORN members from across the country gathered at Ontario Tech University in Oshawa to celebrate 20 years of grassroots organizing, tenant power, and victories across Canada.
This wasn’t just any convention—it was a milestone! Together, we reflected on our journey, built new strategies, and marched into action.
Highlights include:
- Workshops on housing, fair banking, civic engagement & ACORN Radio
- Member Speakout: Real stories, big wins, bold visions
- Epic member march-in & high-energy chants from local chapters
- Powerful plenary speakers: community, labour & elected officials
- 600+ door knocks & petitions collected for tenant rights
- Gala dinner & member awards (yes, there was a catwalk
) - Direct action at CMHC & CIB: tenant testimonies delivered, meetings secured
We also honoured Marva Burnett, who stepped down after years of fierce leadership, and welcomed Alejandra Ruiz Vargas as our new National President! 
The energy? Unmatched. The organizing? Relentless. The goal? Housing justice for all.
