Where is Neil? Bill 23 Rally with Hamilton ACORN and Greenbelt Promise Coalition
Posted December 14, 2022
ACORN and our allies Stop Sprawl and Greenbelt Promise Coalition held a 50+ person “Where is Neil?” Rally in front of Hamilton East – Stoney Creek MPP Lumsden’s office!
On November 3rd ACORN Hamilton, Stop Sprawl and other climate and community organizations held an event outside of MPP Lumsden’s office to demand the provincial government stop their proposed Bill 23: More Homes Built Faster Act. ACORN has been raising the alarm on the Bill’s devastating impacts to Ontario tenants and cities ability to build and maintain affordable housing. At the action ACORN delivered a letter and followed up with an email copy and urgent request to meet. Despite an initial reply from his office to arrange a meeting, we have not heard back for a meeting date!
ACORN and Stop Sprawl returned today to the MPP’s office to ask why residents of Hamilton East – Stoney Creek riding are being ignored and why as MPP he supported a Bill that will destroy renter and greenbelt protections!
Stoney Creek ACORN members Liz, Niresha and Arnim spoke at the Bill’s changes to inclusionary zoning and demoviction tenant protections.
