Vanier ACORN members from 644-650-656 rue de l’eglise kicked off their fight against their soon to be new building owner, Nick Legault of Building Investments Inc, after he issued N13 eviction notices to tenants to be out by July 31st.
ACORN member and tenant at 644 de l’eglise, Marc Courchesne, led 18 members on Saturday in a Tenant Speak Out announcing he and other tenants will NOT be moving!
Marc has lived in his unit for 15 years and pays $750/month for his bachelor. As a senior working as a school bus driver, Marc cannot afford to move elsewhere and says the Sheriff will have to come remove him from his unit if that’s what it comes to!
Vanier ACORN members are organizing to keep Marc and his neighbours in their homes and are calling on the City to introduce anti renoviction & displacement bylaws to protect tenants from greedy developers like Nick Legault.
