TSHC needs transparency and democracy!

Posted July 25, 2025

On July 24th 2025, tenants of 717 Broadview Ave (a building owned and run by Toronto Seniors Housing Corporation, a subsidiary of Toronto Community Housing Corporation) rallied in front of their building to demand transparency, safety, and respect from the TSH corporation and staff.

For over a year, seniors at the building have lived under the shadow of ugly, graffiti covered scaffolding. Despite Toronto requiring construction plans to be public, tenants of this building have sought answers from TSH staff with no luck. This is theoretically the nicest and safest seniors residence under TSH, and yet residents are still left with no clear plan for a construction timeline, limited access to their gardens, and almost no on-site support. With minimal superintendent presence and no on site security, tenants are calling for urgent changes: regular and open communication, security improvements, and a democratic voice in decisions affecting their homes.

Seniors deserve healthy, dignified housing, and the Seniors at 717 Broadview have organized with ACORN to make sure they get it!
