TODAY: Michael Klein Minor Variance Win!
One of the most notorious renovictors in Ontario is back; this time proposing to take amenity space away from tenants and turning them into units. These are merely more opportunities to line Michael Klein’s pockets, as these units will be adjusted to current market rent. There are many older tenants in the building that are already being threatened with renoviction notices and bogus renoviction notices! Sagal, ACORN member and tenant at 508 Dawes Rd spoke passionately about the distress of the threatened renovictions, the variance that has breached City Zoning By-law (1. Chapter 15.10.40.50.(1), By-law 569-2013) and (2. Chapter 15.10.40.50.(1)(A), By-law 569-2013), and the lack of outreach and notification of said variance. ACORN members also came out to support, but did not get a chance to depute because… the item was tossed.
The consensus was that Michael Klein was obligated to give a proper notice to tenants for the minor variance, and the Committee deferred the item to October 23rd!
