Stoney Creek March Against AGI’s

Posted June 27, 2026

On Saturday June 27th, Stoney Creek ACORN and allied chapters came out to the Riverdale community to March Against AGI’s and demand that all AGI’s province wide be banned!

Above guideline increases allow landlords to increase the rent over the provincially mandated guideline. They’ve become a tool used by large corporate landlords to avoid rent control. Tenants cannot afford AGI’s and that is why we held this march.

The march was led by Stoney Creek Chair, Hojay Byfield and Co-chair, Taylor Korolenchuk. Members marched from 40 Grandville ave to 9 Riverdale dr and stopped at 7 Catalina dr – three buildings that have received AGI’s in this community. Members dropped off letters requesting the ban at 40 Grandville and 7 Catalina, chanted the whole way, and had member testimonials at each building. Hojay, Taylor and Stoney Creek Secretary, Kent Hopper gave great testimonials! Finally, when the march was over, members who were able to, called Doug Ford and MPP Neil Lumsden’s office to flood their lines with messages requesting a provincial ban on AGI’s!

Thank you to those who marched in solidarity with us! Keep up the great work Stoney Creek!
