Peel ACORN Fights to Protect Tenants from Flooding!

Climate change means more frequent and intense weather events. This includes flooding, which Mississauga neighbourhoods have experienced A LOT of in recent years. One ACORN leader, Robin Vanderfleet, has witnessed her Bloor St townhome flood 4 times!
The City of Mississauga is developing a plan to tackle flooding and Peel ACORN is getting organized to make sure tenants’ unique challenges are heard. On Oct 23rd, ACORN leaders canvassed rental townhomes to speak to tenants directly about what change they’d like to see. Leaders were pleased to meet with City Councillor Chris Fonseca prior to doing outreach in the community.
