Ontario ACORN members took action today in Ottawa and Toronto to demand an increase in the amount of employment income and assets ODSP/OW recipients can keep before the government claws it back.

Ottawa ACORN members had an AWESOME petition rally outside of MPP Bob Chiarelli’s office (2249 Carling Ave).  Thank you to our dedicated members who fought off the heat to gather signatures for our official petition to the legislature, our union allies from OPSEU and PSAC who joined us and Toronto ACORN for their solidarity action!

In Toronto, a dozen determined ACORN members descended on the North York employment services.  Members petitioned outside and distributed flier to OW and ODSP clients as they entered the office.

At the end of the action – after we got the letter delivered and the point across – Toronto ACORN members committed to forming a Disability Rights Group to Work with Ottawa ACORN’s Disabilty Rights Committee.
