Nova Scotia ACORN rallies for housing justice!
Posted September 23, 2025
Today ACORN members turned out strong to greet the provincial government the way we know best; by rallying for housing justice.
We chanted and had speeches demanding policies that actually protect tenants and keep people in their homes. Our three clear demands:
- Ban fixed-term leases — tenants need stability and protection from forced turnover.
- Permanent rent control — no more temporary fixes; renters need long-term safeguards.
- Truly affordable housing — homes people can afford must be built and preserved.
Thanks to our speakers:
- Heather, Chair of the Mainland Chapter
- Tim, Chair of the Dartmouth Chapter
- Pat, ACORN leader
- Susan Hansen, Official Opposition Housing Critic & MLA for Halifax Needham
- Susan Leblanc, MLA for Dartmouth North
Special shoutout to leaders Heather Clark and Pat Donovan for keeping the fight strong!
A huge thank-you to everyone who stepped up to speak and to everyone who showed up to take action!
Housing is a human right and today we made it clear that together we won’t let the government ignore that truth. Join us as we keep pressuring for the laws and real affordable housing that will keep people housed!
