Nova Scotia ACORN launches Vote Housing campaign in lead up to snap election on Nov 26th
Posted November 1, 2024
The Provincial Election is set for November 26, and we at Nova Scotia ACORN are launching our Vote Housing campaign to put pressure on each of the three main parties to prioritize the needs of working-class tenants. We see this election as a pivotal chance to push for the changes that Nova Scotia’s low-to-moderate income residents desperately need.
Our message to party leaders is clear: to gain the support of working-class tenants, we demand that all parties commit to:
- Bringing back permanent rent control
- Banning the fixed-term lease loophole
- Building and buying non-market social housing
We’re calling on you to join us in taking action! Send an email to each party leader asking them to include ACORN’s Vote Housing demands in their platform: Take Action Here.
Leading up to the election, ACORN chapters across the HRM will be holding local outreach days and actions. We’ll gather for a major province-wide rally on November 23 at 11AM at the Old Library on Spring Garden Road in Halifax.
Let’s stand together to ensure that Nova Scotia elects a government that respects tenants and prioritizes housing!
