Nova Scotia ACORN Campout to Stop Renoviction puts landlords and the province on notice!
On Saturday, May 6, in Lower Sackville, ACORN came out in support of Carla Wilson, a new ACORN member currently facing renoviction from her home by her landlord, Scott Khun. Carla has been living in fear that she and her 3 kids will end up living on the street in tents if they are unable to stay in their home.
Now she is with the ACORN Tenant Union and saying ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
For the campout action, ACORN members from across the HRM set up tents and a campfire on Carla’s lawn. Tenants are standing up to landlords like Khun and demanding the Province of Nova Scotia reinstate the renoviction ban. If renovictions are allowed to run rampant through the province there will be a lot more families like Carla’s forced to live on the street.
ACORN is calling on the government to enact a permanent ban on renovictions in Nova Scotia and stop the displacement of tenants.
