The City’s Director of Transportation also joined the meeting virtually, allowing for a direct discussion of ACORN’s proposals and next steps.

Key recommendations presented included:

  1. Installation of additional crosswalks
  2. Implementation of Leading Pedestrian Intervals (LPIs) at signalized intersections
  3. Addition of pedestrian countdown timers to aid safer crossings
  4. Consideration of red-light cameras at critical intersections

Councillor Pauls received the report positively and confirmed it would be formally reviewed by the Transportation Department. A speed study was suggested by the Director of Transportation as a next step. A follow-up on-site meeting with community members and city staff is expected after the official review/ study likely in September 2025.

Mountain ACORN looks forward to staying engaged and working with city officials and local residents to support practical steps toward improved safety on Mohawk Road.
