London ACORN Rallies for FULL Rent Control!

Today, London ACORN members gathered outside the now-vacant Landlord Tenant Board office on Dufferin Ave to call attention to the urgent need for REAL rent control to be included on all parties’ platforms for this rapidly approaching provincial election! We had amazing turnout from members all across the city, who discussed the skyrocketing rent prices, unfair treatment of tenant applications at the LTB (with tenants waiting as much as 3x longer for their cases to be heard compared to landlords!) and so many other issues that low-income tenants are facing in London. CTV, London Free Press, and CBC news all joined us to cover the story!
MPP Candidates from all major parties were invited to join our rally today to share their thoughts on Ontario ACORN’s Provincial Housing Platform. Of those invited, MPP Candidates Terence Kernaghan (NDP) and Tariq Khan (Liberal) attended and shared their thoughts on our members’ demands for FULL rent control and LTB reform.
The rally finished up with some resounding chants led by Central and Surrounding Secretary Farrah Sherrard: “HEY HEY, HO HO, GIVE US BACK OUR RENT CONTROL!!” along with a final reminder to GO OUT AND VOTE THIS THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 27TH!!!
