Hamilton’s East End Chapter is Reorganizing!

On May 24, ACORN members from Hamilton’s East End chapter gathered for their monthly chapter meeting. There was productive discussion, brainstorming, and plenty of ACORN campaign updates. The main topic on the agenda? The roadmap to reorganizing the East End chapter.
Three major components will be the focus of this roadmap. The main component will be actions: the tenants in Family Properties buildings on Melvin Ave are forming a coalition union to fight back against wave after wave of renovictions, the tenants of 2 Oriole Crescent are organizing to fight for healthy and safe living conditions, and earlier this month was a 3-location action protesting the renoviction of tenants of 309 Strathearne. The other two components are community outreach and leadership development. Members will be getting the word out in their communities about ACORN and running for board member positions. Hamilton ACORN will be holding elections for chapter board members next month on June 29.
