On Saturday April 9 Mountain ACORN members living at 1132 Upper Wellington Street held an action to speak out against the landlord’s attempts to renovict long term tenants.
Since the fall 2021, the landlord has been harassing tenants with buyouts, N11s and illegal N13s. Out of 13 units there are now 5 households left.
The action was led by members Janet, Doug and Chantelle with Mountain co-chair Marnie speaking about ACORN’s demands for City Hall.
Hamilton Mountain NDP MPP Monique Taylor joined in support.
ACORN is calling on the city to pass a local anti-renoviction bylaw based on policy from New Westminster, BC.
