Doug Ford says call him anytime! So ACORN members flooded PCs phone lines with demands for FULL Rent Control.

Today, Premier Doug Ford, Housing Minister Paul Calandra and PC MPPs across the province were flooded with messages from 40 Ontario ACORN members demanding full rent control. We’ve all seen the ads where Ford says to call him anytime so that’s exactly what ACORN members did!
With a provincial election likely to be called as early as NEXT WEEK, members believed it was important for the Ford government to hear directly from low and moderate income renters about what the real issues are in Ontario.
Marcia Stone (Toronto) and Tanya Burkart (Brampton) were a dynamic duo, leading the phone zap from start to finish. Together, ACORN members were calling on the Province to support:
- Rent Control on ALL buildings, not just those built before 2018
- Vacancy Control to cap excessive rent increases when a tenant moves out
- Ban on AGIs or ‘Above Guideline Increases’
