Brand-New Hamilton West-End Chapter Draws a Full House
Posted August 12, 2026

August 10 marked a significant milestone for Hamilton ACORN as we hosted our very first West End Organizing Committee meeting. To say we were excited is quite the understatement, but the turnout speaks for itself.
It was a very diverse cross-section of the West End, encompassing Westdale, Ainslie Wood, University Gardens, and all of Dundas. It is one thing to show interest at the door or over a petition, it is another to travel out-of-town altogether (by bike in one case!) to make a difference in the community.
Seventeen dedicated community members showed up to support a chapter that doesn’t officially exist yet. They discussed important neighborhood issues, how to organize around them, and had an undeniably positive and hopeful energy. People immediately started making friends, too– thereby building the connections that are imperative for a strong chapter with a rock solid foundation.
Thus, the West End Organizing Committee has formed, and people are more than ready to build the power needed to make meaningful, positive change. The next organizing committee will be on August 27, where members will decide the chapter’s very first action.
