On Saturday, Jan 22nd, we had 55 people out to plan a Day of Action for Vacancy Control!

ACORN members came out from across the province – with people representing from Metro Vancouver, to Vancouver Island, to Kelowna, and even folks out from Prince George.

Tenants have had enough of rising rents! Right now in Mainland BC there are ZERO 1 BEDROOM APARTMENTS for less than $1,200 a month. Every day, tenants are unfairly evicted so landlords can raise the rent on their units.

Tenants are tired of the lack of action from the BC NDP – so we’ve planned a Province-wide Day of Action for Vacancy Control at MLA offices across BC!

On Thursday, February 3rd tenants will be picketing at offices across the province – starting with MLA Anne Kang’s office in Burnaby (Metrotown) at 10am.

You can use this map to look for your nearest MLA’s office and see if there is a scheduled action near you!

Share the action around, and keep up with the local action times and locations on our Facebook event page.

If you don’t see an action near your MLA’s office – start one! Go down with a friend or two and drop off a demand letter, take a picture, and send it our way! We’ll even get you flyers, posters, and sign-making materials.

Sign up here to get more information about the day of action and how you can get involved.

AHEAD OF THE ACTION – SEND AN EMAIL TO YOUR MLA HERE DEMANDING VACANCY CONTROL NOW!
