Hamilton Spectator: WHAT’S GOING ON HERE?: Acorn rally for affordable homes on Hamilton Mountain

Tenants’ rights and anti-poverty organization Hamilton ACORN organized a protest by residents and advocates at the townhouse complex at 1132 Upper Wellington April 9.

JUST THE FACTS

• ACORN says the landlord has been trying since last fall to get tenants to accept cash to move out to clear the way for unit renovation and higher rents for new tenants. Some residents have received eviction notices.

• ACORN is calling on the City of Hamilton to pass anti-renoviction bylaws.
