TENANTS HAVE RIGHTS. TENANTS HAVE POWER. AND TENANTS HAVE THE RIGHT TO ORGANIZE!
Posted October 29, 2026

ACORN members from across the province came together for the Ontario @ Large group’s Tenants’ Right to Organize Workshop!
The workshop brought renters together to learn about tenants’ legal rights to organize, what landlords cannot do to interfere with tenant organizing, and why building tenant unions are such an important tool for renters.
Too often, tenants are left dealing with poor living conditions, ignored repair requests, harassment, intimidation, and unfair treatment from landlords. Many renters feel like they have to fight these battles on their own. But they don’t have to!
When tenants come together, they can share their experiences, identify common issues, support one another, and organize collective actions to demand change. Whether it’s fighting for repairs, challenging harassment, or holding landlords accountable, an organized group of tenants has a much stronger voice than one tenant acting alone.
Through ACORN, tenants are building people power, one building and one neighbourhood at a time.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us last night and continues to build tenant power across Ontario!
Big shout out to Anthony Regits, Rebekah Zinger, Elliot Wand, Mel Laplante, Tanya Burkart & Carrie-Lynn Cusson for leading the meeting!
