Slummies 2026: London ACORN Crowns the City’s Worst Landlords!

Posted October 17, 2026

The awards are in, the crowd was loud, and the message was clear! On Saturday, October 17, 2026, London ACORN gathered at the bandshell at Victoria Park for the Slummies, the awards for London’s worst landlords, decided by the tenants who live with them. In the weeks leading up to the event, tenants nominated and voted for the landlords who left them waiting on repairs, ignored mold, or let pests take over. The energy was awesome from start to finish!!

And the winners are…

Golden Cockroach Award: London & Middlesex Community Housing (LMCH).  Brittany Cable shared their experience as an LMCH tenant, speaking about living with cockroaches in their unit, and how the infestation affected their daily life, their health, and their peace of mind.

Rent Gouger Award: Medallion Corporation. Ken House shared their experience with the landlord, speaking about how rising costs hit tenants who are already stretched thin.

Ghost Landlord Award: Arnsby Property Management. Diane Carlton spoke about their experience trying to get answers and action from a landlord who goes silent when tenants need them most. Arnsby has ghosted tenants even when members showed up in its own parking lot.

Dishonourable mentions went to the top contenders in this year’s race: SIREG, Kipps Lane Property Management, Drake, and CAPREIT.

Then we took to the petitions! With the awards done, members split into groups and spent 30 minutes petitioning in the park. They collected signatures for landlord licensing and talked with people about why London needs a city-wide licensing system. As ACORN spokesperson Christina Bobb put it ahead of the event, tenants are the ones who know who the worst landlords in London are, and the Slummies let them say it out loud and make those landlords answer for it. “We shouldn’t have to fight for basic repairs one landlord at a time,” they said. “We need landlord licensing so the city holds them accountable.”

With the municipal election on October 26, London ACORN is calling on mayoral and ward candidates to commit to landlord licensing.
