Over 50 Tenants Join Ontario Remote ACORN Tenant Rights Workshop

Posted March 12, 2026

On the evening of March 12, more than 50 tenants from across Ontario joined Ontario Remote ACORN’s Tenant Rights Workshop on Zoom to learn more about their rights and how to stand up to landlord abuses.

The workshop was led by Tanya Burkart (Peel ACORN), who walked participants through key tenant protections, common landlord tactics, and what steps tenants can take when their rights are being violated. The session gave members practical tools and information to help them navigate difficult situations with landlords.

A big thank you to Tanya Burkart for facilitating such an informative and empowering workshop. Her leadership helped make the session clear, engaging, and accessible for everyone who attended.

The discussion at the end of the workshop was especially powerful, with many members sharing their own experiences, asking thoughtful questions, and learning from one another. These conversations are an important reminder that when tenants come together, we can support each other and build collective power.

Events like this are part of ACORN’s ongoing work to make sure tenants know their rights and feel confident organizing for better housing in their communities.

Thank you to everyone who joined and contributed to making the workshop such a strong and meaningful conversation.
