ACORN Members Take to the Streets to “Find the Landlord” in Waterloo!

Posted October 27, 2025

Waterloo Region ACORN members took over the streets to call out landlord Onur Demircan and his company Macgregor PIM Inc. for hiding behind shell companies, fake addresses, and intimidation tactics while renovicting tenants across Waterloo.

Dozens of ACORN members rallied outside 705 Glen Forrest Blvd, chanting loudly and sharing their stories of neglect, harassment, and bad-faith evictions. Speakers described how Demircan ignored repair requests, let garbage pile up, failed to remove snow, charged illegal fees, and even forced tenants to use an unresponsive app for rent payments — all while claiming “major renovations” were needed to justify evicting tenants.

Tenants also highlighted outrageous actions at 145 MacGregor Crescent, where workers threw full-sized appliances off balconies during renovations, leaving glass and debris across the property. ACORN members exposed how tenants who spoke out were publicly smeared online in retaliation.

After the rally, the crowd marched to the busy intersection at Weber and Northfield, carrying signs, chanting, and handing out flyers. Along the way, residents leaned out of their windows and balconies, raising fists, cheering, and shouting in solidarity with the tenants taking a stand.

“This landlord thinks he can hide behind shell companies and fake addresses, but tenants are organized, loud, and we’re not going anywhere!” said Waterloo Region ACORN Chair Jacquie Wells.

The rally drew press coverage from The Record and sent a powerful message: tenants will not be bullied out of their homes, and the City of Waterloo must act now to pass a strong renoviction bylaw to protect our communities!
