All MPP Candidates Invited: Rent Control Rally

About 40 ACORN members rallied Jarvis St today, despite the weather conditions. With the provincial election in just five days, we planned on making a splash in media (which hopefully we did – check CityNews around 6pm and CBC) to share our provincial platform: to ban Above-Guideline Rent Increases (AGIs), LTB (Landlord and Tenant Board) reform, and real rent control. We invited all candidates to speak in this matter, however only MPP candidate Kristyn Wong-Tam showed up. Some members petitioned the streets to get out the vote, many spoke about their own experience with AGIs – and we all, collectively and in solidarity made the effort to change the outcome for renters.
