Rent Gouger of the Year Award&#8221; goes to Boardwalk!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After a month of nominations with our 2024 Rent Gouger of the Year competition, Alberta ACORN was proud to present the \u201c2024 Rent Gouger of the Year\u201d award to Boardwalk!<\/p>\n<p>Boardwalk received this award for their commitment to creating a business out of rent gouging, displacing thousands of low and moderate income tenants from their communities as a result rent hikes and lease non-renewals, and destroying affordable housing across Alberta.<br \/>ACORN\u2019s demands are clear:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Permanent rent control<\/li>\n<li>Reform tenant laws to close any rent control loopholes<\/li>\n<li>Ban fixed term leases and strengthen eviction
