Today, Ottawa City Council voted YES (19-6) to move forward with the renoviction bylaw! This is a huge win for tenants in Ottawa and a direct result of the hard work of ACORN members who have been rallying, speaking out, and holding the city accountable every step of the way.

A special thank you to Councillor Ariel Troster for championing this issue and standing up for tenant rights with bold leadership.

While today’s vote is a critical step toward protecting tenants from predatory renovictions, there is major concern about the timeline of this work. City staff won’t report back for another year, while we lose more affordable housing. The city must act faster.

ACORN will continue pushing for stronger protections for tenants, and together, we’re building a city that puts people over profit!

Stay tuned for CBC and more!!
