Suitor’s name is well known in Hamilton as the landlord of 1083 Main St E where tenants’ went without running water for almost 3 months earlier in the year.

Beginning in March remaining tenants at the 60 unit downtown apartment building had hearings at the LTB for applications filed against them for evictions for renovations. Two tenants await rescheduled hearings after two adjournments and one tenant has yet to receive the board’s decision after a July 14 hearing. The board’s decisions could leave tenants potentially homeless.

Tenants’ have publicly spoken out about Suitor’s agenda to displace low incomes tenants from their affordable homes to turn the building into luxury high rent rentals.

Demands:

Thank you to our amazing allies for joining in support! Environment Hamilton, Hamilton & District Labour Council, Disability Justice Network of Ontario, Hamilton Centre for Civic Inclusion, Hamilton Community Benefits Network, Congress of Union Retirees of Canada and No Hate in the Hammer.

Dylan Suitor – your actions have already destroyed affordable housing and displaced low income and vulnerable tenants but you can make the choice to stop. Remaining tenants facing renoviction have called the building’s home for decades and cannot afford to lose their apartments. They are seniors and tenants’ with disabilities.

Today community and labour groups stand together to demand you act today to withdraw the N13s.
